AfroChic 2017 Recap: A Classic Comeback

On Saturday, June 10, 2017, after a two-year hiatus, AfroChic returned and five hundred people waited in anticipatory silence to see the first artist, Consuelo Herrera.
The Peel District School Board's newest secondary school, Jean Augustine Secondary School, held its official opening on May 25.
Djanet Sears is a woman who needs no introduction. The award-winning playwright, director, producer and actor made history in 1990 when her theatre anthology Afrika, Solo became the first published play by a Canadian woman of African descent.

Community Holds Town Hall on Racism At CAMH

At an urgently convened Town Hall at Scarborough Civic Centre, a community based coalition comprised of over thirty African-Canadian community organizations, health and mental health professionals, and youth, will gather to discuss growing concerns of anti-Black racism at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and to share information and identify options for action.
