Checks Over Strikes presents Don't Be A Waste Yute: The Financial Literacy Guide

  • 1245.jpg
The purpose of this book is to minimize the youth and young adults of today from being labelled as "waste yutes" (a youthful person who has failed to use their time wisely) through financial literacy. Being financially literate simply means that you're competent when it comes to money and beginner level financial planning. Each chapter is titled with commonly used Toronto phrases to make it relatable and to grab their attention. Our goal is to give the youth and young adults in marginalized communities an equal opportunity to attain upward mobility. Young people need to feel empowered in order to make informed decisions and what better way than through the universal language of money?!In conjunction with the book, a financial literacy program, "Checks Over Strikes" has been birthed by Craig A. Brown and Dean M. Chambers. The course aims to further the knowledge attained from this book and serve as a form of accountability and guidance for those who are ready to embark on their financial literacy journey. Our hope is that they will share their newly acquired knowledge with their peers and apply it to their daily lives. This new-found information could be the motivation they need to be pillars in their community with an "Each One Teach One" mentality. Don't delay, begin your journey today!
