dance Immersion is a charitable non-profit organization established by Vivine Scarlett in 1994 to produce, promote, and support dancers and dances of the African Diaspora. We offer presentations, skill development, workshops, and networking opportunities for artists who identify as Black/ Afro/ Caribbean in dance, serving artists who practice contemporary and traditional movement forms from Africa, the Caribbean, North America, South America, and Europe. Through three decades in service, we have produced over 85 stage and studio presentations, over 350 dance education events, served over 2,000 Black Canadian dance artists directly, impacted the 32,000+ Toronto-based artists of all backgrounds, and connected Black Canadian dance to over 40,000 audience and community members.
