The Benue

This restaurant is Toronto’s latest destination for authentic Nigerian food located right downtown. The Benue is named for the "bread basket" province of the African nation, where the rich agriculture produces popular foods including yams, beans and rice. Traditional favourites on the menu include jollop fried rice paired with fried plantain or fried goat meat. Though it's not traditionally Nigerian, customers love The Venue’s signature BBQ Chicken, which is slow-roasted and smothered with a juicy secret sauce. For an even more authentic cultural experience, start your meal with a traditional efo-riro soup, made with stewed spinach, fermented locust beans and assorted beefs.
