These little girls have appeared in a variety of national and international commercials, films and television series. They are the LeBlanc sisters, Jaeda (11 years old) and Yvanna-Rose (9 years old), originally from Toronto but living in Ottawa for the last few years.
Both sisters are nominated for a total of 5 Joey Awards for young Canadian actors. “We are so proud and excited to be nominated and attending the Joey awards,” the youth actress said.
Yvanna-Rose is nominated for: • Best Actress in a Commercial Age 8-9 (Universitas Financial) • Best Ensemble in a Short Film (The Silence)
Jaeda is nominated for: • Best Principal or Guest Starring Actress in a TV Series Age 7-9 (Real Detective) • Best Actress in a Commercial Age 10 (Mr. Lube in Walmart) • Best Ensemble in a Short Film (The Silence)
Both girls started acting when they were just 5 years old, and are managed by Angie’s AMTI in Toronto and Ottawa. “I am excited for them because they put in a lot of work and hours in commuting to their auditions that are often in Toronto or Montreal. Acting is not easy, you can have 40-60 rejections for one role, so for them to be recognized in what they love to do is extraordinary and exciting,” said Nadine.
The LeBlanc sisters have already stacked up quite a few wins. Jaeda is the 2016 Richard Robinson Model of the Year winner (at only 9 years old) and as a student of Lord Aylmer, she won the 2016 Western School Board Public Speaking contest.
Most recently, Jaeda attended the annual AMTI Talent showcase in Ottawa, and after several days of auditions, she won 2 scholarships, one for the LA REEL camp and one for the LA music camp. The scholarships were presented by Helena-Alexis Seymour (Actress known for Birdman) - Jaeda attended both camps this past August in Hollywood.
The Joey Awards reward young actors and actresses in Canada for their hard work and dedication to their craft, “It’s the most prestigious award a child actor wants to get,” said the girls both crossing their fingers. The girls also dance and play hockey, you can follow them on Instagram. @jaedaleblanc + @yvannaroseleblanc
The winners will be announced at the red carpet gala event on November 18 at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel & Conference Centre.
