Roy Anderson's film Queen Nanny launches on Indiegogo

We are proud to announce the launch of the Indiegogo campaign for QUEEN NANNY: LEGENDARY MAROON CHIEFTAINESS
A one-hour documentary film on Jamaica’s only female National Hero
The goal is to raise $50,000 in 40 days.
Roy's first film Akwantu: the Journey, on the history of the Jamaican Maroons was one-hundred percent self funded. For his follow-up film Queen Nanny, you are invited to join the team in bringing this real life heroine to the big screen.
With your contribution - no matter how small, you will ensure that Queen Nanny will be talked about in the same breath as such heroines like Joan of Arc and Cleopatra.
But even if you are unable to contribute financially, we're asking you to please spread the word via Facebook, twitter, and other social media networks.
Will you be the first to join the Queen Nanny team? Please contribute today!

Help us tell stories that matter

One more thing! Our mission at ByBlacks is to provide positive and uplifting stories that reflect our Black Canadian community. Unlike other media platforms, we have always rejected the pay for play model.

Our people need these kinds of stories more than ever right now. That’s why we’ve chosen an approach that allows us to keep our content open, accessible and free from paywalls.
We’re not into building walls anyway.

Support from readers like you gives our writers the time, space and freedom to find and create content that matters. Every contribution you make, big or small, goes directly into funding our journalism. Support ByBlacks.com for as little as $10 a month, and it only takes a minute. We thank you!
