10 Questions You Should Ask Yourself, The People in Your Life & Everyone You Meet

Life in general is full of questions. But most times asking the right questions will not only give you the answers you need, but it can also provide the real connection we human beings crave.

One of my favourite sites, Marc and Angel inspired this post. The post which inspired me, entitled "One Question You Should Ask Everyone You Meet", states that we all have a story and that “your entire life journey including your upbringing, challenges, your hard learned lessons, your experiences, achievements and gifts, are all a series of footprints that have brought you to this very moment in time as you read these words.” True.

We all got to where we are today by going through what I call our life journey. Our life journey is filled with ups and downs, pain, laughter, joy, love and more. The footprints in our life journeys create our stories and our stories gives a glimpse into who we really are.
It tells of our courageous acts. Of how resilient we are. Of how strong, how afraid, how fearful and most importantly how connected we all are.

As stated on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, we human beings crave love and connection and I believe that it is through our stories, that we can find that love and connection. The funny thing is that we are more connected than we realize. My story, can be your story. The story of the woman you see everyday on the bus or the train might be your story. Or it may be the story of someone you know. I believe that sharing our story connects us and reminds us of the fact that we are all human beings living our lives the best way we know how.

We are all working towards the same thing. A life we love. A life where we feel fulfilled. A life filled with love and happiness. (If you agree, go ahead and tweet it)

By sharing our stories and by asking each other questions that matter, we provide a unique opportunity to broaden and deepen our human connection. Which is exactly what we need in this world. We need more real connections. We need more love. And we can’t get to more love and connection, if we don’t allow ourselves to ask the right questions which presents the perfect opportunity to connect.

So here goes. I would like to get to know you know better. Over the past year, I have been sharing a lot more about myself, what I have learned about myself once I understood shame and how it shows up in my life, what I have been through, my fears, what I know for sure, my journey with vulnerability and more. When I read this post on Marc and Angel`s site, it got me thinking some more about myself and my journey. It also got me thinking about you. What makes you smile? What is your deepest fear? And how can I be of service to you?

Below are the answers I gave on the site and would also love for you to join me. I have also added 3 more questions I would like to ask you. Hope you join me! I am looking forward to getting to know you better.

1. Where were you born? In the West Indies in the beautiful island of St.Lucia

2. Where do you live now? I currently reside in Toronto Canada.

3. What makes you smile? My husband Jason He’s hilarious.

4. What is the most important life lesson you’ve learned so far? That no matter what happens in life, we women are resilient and that we can create a life we love.

5. What is your deepest fear? That I will go back and live my life in fear & that I will allow shame to tell me who I am and define my goals.

6. What is your greatest dream for your life? Teaching thousands of women to be free, to love, be happy & to create a life they love & deserve.

7. Who are you? I am a Beautiful Warrior who will raise awareness and break the silence & stigma surrounding Child Sexual Abuse in the Caribbean & Canada and who will make a difference in the lives of women & girls all over the world.

The three additional questions I would like to add to this post ( which I also answered for you as well) are:

8. What is love? Love is accepting myself, being kind to me, respecting me and sharing my gifts with others. Love is a gift I give to myself, the people in my life & the world.

9. What do you want your legacy to be? Someone who stood up for the rights of those who couldn’t protect themselves. Someone who fought for a society where women don’t need to hide behind our shame/fear/guilt stories. That my voice/work, helped protect young children from sexual abuse. And that my story gave others hope that they can be free from a lifetime of guilt, blame, fear and sadness – whatever their story is.

10. What would you want people to say about you if you died today? That I made a difference in their lives while I was here. That I gave them hope and courage to create and live a life they love. That I somehow inspired them to stop living in fear and to break their personal glass ceiling and start thriving. I want them to say that I encouraged them to show their inner greatness and their “head to soul” sexiness.

Let’s Talk: Hope you take the time to answer these questions and most importantly the next person you encounter, don’t ask them the typical questions, start with one or all of the questions noted above. When you do, drop me a note below and let me know how you felt after and if you deepened your connection.
