TrapSoul Yoga - A New Experience For Women of Colour

The women behind TrapSoul yoga are aiming to create a dedicated safe space for women of colour to fully relax, release and recharge.

Featuring hits from Solange, Bryson Tiller, 6LACK and more, TrapSoul yoga fuses art and culture with an emphasis on self-love and self-empowerment.

This soulful and inclusive yoga class offers a unique self-care experience where women of colour can feel comfortable to be themselves while entering a state of vulnerability. After attending several yoga studios and classes, founders Kimberly and Shanelle decided to that they should no longer feel any less welcomed and represented in a space created for healing. They decided to create a pop up yoga event taught by women of colour for women of colour. The event features music and sponsors, all created by people of colour. On June 17th, the first ever TrapSoul Yoga took place in Montreal, QC and was a sold out event. Over 30 women of colour attended. While, 60% of attendees said it was their first yoga class, 100% agreed that it was their first yoga class instructed by a woman of colour. The event was deemed “pretty amazing” and “a beautiful and meaningful experience” by attendees. TrapSoul Toronto will be held on August 20th, from 12-2pm at 619 Yonge St and has plans to be held in Ottawa in September. Learn about more event details here.
