We ladies of Fab Four Fashion love to rock an awesome print, so when Leslie and I attended Kuwala's Pop Up Shop this summer which featured beautiful African print clothing in all of its splendour, we were in heaven!
As I was perusing the racks, my eyes locked on this gorgeous African print Kaela Kay dress by designer extraordinaire, Catherine Addai. Catherine's beautiful designs have been seen on the likes of Emmy winning director, Ava Duvernay, and actress, Teyonah Parris.
Catherine is an accountant by trade but pursued her passion to create modern African print clothing for women of all sizes. A strikingly personable and approachable person, she also works one-on-one with clients to offer custom design services. She assists clients in selecting fabric and a design resulting in a truly personalized experience. She also offers wardrobe styling and private shopping services.
When I spotted her Ronke Tulip Dress at the Kuwala Pop Up Shop, I had to have it. I looked at the tag hoping and praying it would show my size but alas, it didn’t. I told Catherine that although I loved the dress my size wasn't on the racks. Catherine, quickly said, "No problem, we can make it for you in your size!" She took my measurements right there on the spot and a week later I received my dress.
Dress: The Ronke Tulip Dress// Jacket: Wilsons Leather (sold out) // Mulberry Tote // Shoes: Zara
This custom made creation is a fit and flare dress with pockets (woohoo!) and is made from 100% wax cotton. As we're stepping into fall, I decided to pair my dress with a navy faux leather jacket from Wilsons Leather to keep the cool breezes at bay. I also reached for my navy Mulberry tote purse. I kept the blue running with cobalt blue slingback heels and similarly coloured earrings - and just like that, my Kaela Kay outfit was complete!
Recently, Catherine had her first solo runway show featuring pieces from her Fall 2017 collection that left me and the other Fab Four ladies drooling over her designs. We look forward to watching Catherine's star continue to rise as she continues to chase her fashion design dreams. For a sneak peek at the runway show see below.
Ta-ta for now,
