A recent study published by the medical journal JAMA Surgery found that women are more likely to die after an operation, experience complications, and be readmitted to the hospital if their surgeon is male. Alarmed by these eye-opening statistics and what it could mean for Black women, I sat down with one of the co-authors of the research, Dr. Angela Jerath. Dr. Jerath is a cardiac kinesiologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, and a woman of colour.

It’s in the news again.  It seems that another Black/Brown body is being brutalized by police at every turn.  That sorrow you feel?  That grief, that anger, that despair?  It’s actually trauma.

With less than one week until Christmas, I thought I would share some tips for managing all of the temptations that may come your way throughout the holidays!

First, I have to highlight that after losing almost 100lbs, 14 years ago, I still struggle with the desire to run to food for comfort. Sadly, that battle hasn't gone away. And while it's managed well, when really intense events like this come up, I feel strong urges to turn to food for healing. Copious amounts of food.

I’ve lived my life on the road as a full-time nomad for 3 years, so I am no stranger to staying healthy while indoors. For years, I’ve worked from home running my business online while traveling the world.  Staying fit without equipment is my norm; hotel rooms and Airbnbs have been my “gym” for as long as I can remember. Staying healthy in unfamiliar times may not come naturally to most, so I’m here to assure you that maintaining (and even elevating) your wellness journey, while in quarantine, is completely possible!

It’s February, and many of us have lost sight of the resolutions set just 1 month ago. In fact, 80% of new year's resolutions fail, and 55% percent of people that set wellness goals fall off the wagon within the first month!

I lost 90lbs as a result of a New Year's Resolution, and against all odds, I’ve kept this weight off for over 14 years! Prior to this, I had tried every diet under the sun (twice). But this time, I was determined to approach my wellness journey with a different tone as the extreme attempts hadn’t served me in the past.

I've been researching the habits of highly effective (purpose-driven) people and one thing that stood out was this: no one had a perfect ride to their "successful" moment or story.

The ladies of Fab Four Fashion are excited to bring you another year of living out loud fabulously and fearlessly. Here's a look at how each of these women are upping their game in 2018.

You probably gained a pound or five over the Christmas season. So you want to make 2018 the year you get your health in order.
