Do You Know What You Really Look Like?

Monday, 13 July 2015 09:59 Written by
I’ve been having this conversation with many of my friends and clients. You would think with all the selfies we’re taking that we would have a better idea of what we look like.
How good does it feel to take a dip in a cold pool during those hot and humid days of summer?

Running Isn't For Everyone

Saturday, 13 June 2015 00:40 Written by
Alright, so I have to be honest. I will go for a run or jog every once in a while, but it’s not something I do regularly.
For most of us, a long winter results in a long period of inactivity, but jumping into gardening at the first sight of the sun can often lead to injured or aching muscles and joints.

Dealing With Life's Turbulence

Friday, 08 May 2015 10:53 Written by
This past month my church community has been focused on the theme of Turbulence and Transition. The topic felt appropriate given the season we’re in here in Toronto, as we move (for the most part) out of the winter and into spring.

My Mother Was My First Personal Trainer

Thursday, 07 May 2015 22:20 Written by
I’ve trained with many trainers, fitness instructors and coaches throughout my life but my mother was my first personal trainer, because she taught me to love exercise.
Looks like spring has finally arrived; the skies are blue, the sun is shining and there are runners on the road. Yes, its that time of year when many decide to lace up the sneakers and hit the pavement.

Is there anyone out there who doesn't love to take a few minutes in between meals to indulge? Something small, maybe even just a few nibbles, with just enough punch to tie you over till you next meal.

Skinny Fat And Why I Dance In My Underwear

Friday, 10 April 2015 07:35 Written by
Let’s just be clear. Skinny is not normal for most people, though it is for a select group of individuals. If we only watched and listened to mainstream media I would understand why you would think that everyone has the opportunity to be skinny if they just work hard enough.

Combating Injuries From Your Devices

We all know the benefits of technology; it helps bring down production costs, it makes communication easier, and helps us become more efficient at many complex tasks and processes. But it seems, these advancements may have come with a cost to our general health.

How Do I Know What My Calling Is In Life?

Monday, 16 March 2015 16:22 Written by
“To what are you called?” This is something my mother would often ask me and others growing up. She’d look you straight in the eye with a deadpan stare, the eyebrows artfully painted on her face raised high, and ask, “Is God calling you? And if so, to what are you being called?”

Smoothies & Superfoods

Wednesday, 11 March 2015 17:09 Written by
This month's idea came from being so very over winter and all that comes with it. The cold, the snow, the countless layers, the heavy food, the sluggishness and even the hibernation.

Does Cold Weather Really Affect our Joints?

How many of us have that aunt or grandparent who believes they can predict the weather based on the amount of discomfort in their knees or hands? Well, there just may be some truth to their claims.

MYTH BUSTER: Squats will not give you Booty!

Saturday, 31 January 2015 00:00 Written by
One thing that really grinds my gears is when I see people (especially men) posting online, telling woman to do squats so they can make their booty bigger. The only thing that enrages me more is the women who comment on theses posts asking these same people for more information.
I spent my New Year's Eve at home this year. It was a first for me. I’d reflected a short time before that many of my past New Year’s Eve celebrations have, in my adulthood at least, been rather unremarkable.
This season tends to be the season of “should's”. The resolutions we should be sticking to, the workouts we should be doing and the detoxes we should be starting.
We all get scared sometimes. Present company included. I was afraid when I moved to Canada in 2003. I was afraid to start new in a place where I didn't know anybody. I was afraid to start a new job with no friends, no mentors or sponsors. I was afraid when I wanted to fall in love.
So, how are those New Year’s Resolutions coming along? The rum cake, shortbread and sorrel? Yeah, I ate them and thoroughly enjoyed each and every bite.

You’re Not The Only One!

Friday, 14 November 2014 00:00 Written by
I feel like I have had to say this at least 3 times a week for the last month. So I figured it was only fitting that I write about it since it seems to be the theme.

Time To Get Out The Crockpot

Wednesday, 12 November 2014 00:00 Written by
The leaves have fallen, summer clothes have been packed away. Scarves, sweaters and winter jackets have been taken out of storage (sniff). I think it's safe to say that it's time to dust off the crockpot.
