See our latest installation at The Drake Hotel. In Passages, Ajavon highlights the liminal space between arrival and departure, the transference of energy and knowledge, and the act of creating through the hands. This includes artwork that features palms as well as sculptures that document the hand-weaving process. The Drake’s lobby, itself a threshold between coming and going, resonates with these motifs of hands and hand-wrought surfaces—enveloping visitors in tactile histories that invite us to reflect on how we shape and are shaped by the spaces we inhabit.
