Pre-Doctoral Fellowships in Black Studies – Application Deadline is January 31
The Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s University is pleased to invite applications for one-year Pre-Doctoral Fellowships in Black Studies.
The Pre-Doctoral Fellowships are open to students enrolled in a PhD program and working on doctoral research in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences or natural and physical sciences at an accredited university other than Queen's University. Candidates must have completed all doctoral degree requirements except the final doctoral project (e.g. dissertation). They will be expected to complete their doctoral project during their tenure as a Fellow to receive their degree from their home institution.
The Fellowship holder is required to relocate to Kingston while completing their research to teach one course in the Faculty of Arts and Science and contribute to intellectual life at Queen's University. The program supports the intellectual and scholarly development of senior doctoral candidates in ways that position them for success. It provides an opportunity for students to gain research and teaching experience at a different university and it provides a competitive advantage for academic and non-academic jobs after graduation. The award includes a $37,000 annual stipend, as well as wages for teaching one class, and funds for relocation, research & conferences.
The application deadline is January 31, 2024.
Prospective fellows can learn more about this opportunity at an online information session on Friday, December 1, 2023. The information session will include a brief 15-minute presentation on the program, requirements, and application process followed by a 30-minute Q&A and conversation.
