Mark V. Campbell, PhD New!
Dr. Mark V. Campbell is an esteemed DJ, scholar, and curator whose research delves into the connections between Afrosonic innovations and conceptions of the human. He currently serves as the Associate Chair in the Arts, Culture and Media department and is a Connaught Early Career Fellow at the University of Toronto. Dr. Campbell is the Principal Investigator for the SSHRC-funded project, Hip Hop Archives: The Poetics and Potentials of Knowledge Production. With over two decades embedded in the Toronto hip hop scene, he co-founded the Bigger than Hip Hop radio show in 1997 and established the Northside Hip Hop Archive in 2010. His written works include We Still Here: Hip Hop in North of the 49th Parallel (2020) and …Everything Remains Raw: Photographing Toronto hip hop Culture from Analogue to Digital (2018). Since 2015, Mark has also served as a Member of the Board at the Ontario Arts Council and on juries for various arts and humanities councils across Canada.
