Kumusha comes from the chiShona language, spoken in Zimbabwe and translates to "home" or "homeland" and often holds a deeper, emotional significance, referring to one's ancestral home or the place where one's roots are. At kumusha, meals are often traditional, hearty, and rooted in local ingredients and culinary customs. The food reflects the rhythm of rural life, relying on fresh, homegrown, or locally sourced ingredients. Kumusha features traditional sadza (cornmeal porridge)*, bhinzi (stewed beans) and muriwo (fried vegetables).
Muchato means "wedding" or "marriage" and represents the ceremony and commitment when two people join in matrimony. Muchato is often accompanied by cultural traditions, celebrations, and family gatherings. Weddings in Shona culture are typically vibrant events, filled with food, music, dance, and symbolic rituals.The meals are often prepared by the families and the community, symbolizing unity and collective effort. The meals served at muchato are often traditional, hearty, and meant to delight guests. Muchato features mupunga (white rice)**, huku (1/4 grilled chicken), bhinzi (stewed beans) and kosolo (coleslaw).
