Briefly describe the relationship with your father. 

Hills and valleys. My father was hard to please growing up and I wasn't always aware of whether I made him proud, but I would always know the things that mattered to most to him. He was principled, humourous, stubborn and disciplined. He cared about current events, and academics, loved music and athletics.

How has this shaped the relationship with your children? 

Hills and valleys. I am the disciplinarian in my household and have high expectations for my kids. My kids know what matters most to me and, while I sometimes struggle to shower them with praise, I want them to believe they are capable of greatness.

What do you enjoy the most about being a dad?

I like being a role model to my kids and knowing the kind of positive impact I make in their lives, but there is nothing better than the unconditional love I feel from them everyday, even when they are upset with me.
