In 2010, after over 5 years of trying, and more miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies than I care to recall, I became a mom for the first time. What joy it was to have this little person, who kind of had my face, staring right back at me. So much intrigue in her little eyes, so much wonder! How was I going to do this “mom” thing? This was me on day 12 after my 1st daughter was born. It was the first time I remember seeing my daughter. I had suffered a stroke and had brain surgery. Though my brain was still a bit muffled, I was happy to be alive. I told my doctor many times that things weren’t quite right; my feet were HUGE (I had gone from size 10 to not fitting a 13), I had gone blind at work, I was feeling warm and dizzy. He did not see these as problems; and what did I know? It was just my first pregnancy. It was my pregnancy. I knew something was not right.
