I'm over it and I know I'm not the only one. With that said, it's quite possible that I'm not the only one missing fresh fruit and veg. When the winter comes we tend to forsake raw goodness for cooked comfort type foods. Since food goes hand in hand with mood it makes perfect sense that the winter blues not only come at a time of freezing temperatures but also when we eat the least amount of fresh, raw food. If you're not quite ready to give up the winter diet or go on a preemptive Spring cleanse may I suggest smoothies?
Drinking your 5-10 a day is an easy way to do it and adding a superfood or two can up the nutritional value and your energy. Superfoods are simply foods that pack some of the highest nutrients. Think of adding maca, camu camu, or spirulina. Or even cacao nibs, berries or leafy greens. There are many superfoods out there to choose from so have a look around and see what works for you. To start you off, here are three recipes tried and tested ready to get you and your body into spring.
*Note* Frozen fruit works really well, is convenient and saves on prep time. You can also skip a handful of ice because it is already cold when served.
