This formal affair is part of TD Bank's annual Black History Month series of cultural events which showcases the past and present accomplishments of Black Canadians.

The Black Diamond Gala, in its second year was held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and attracted well over one thousand people.

The event was a massive success in highlighting the incredible artistic homegrown talent we have here in Toronto. Performances from legends such as Michie Mee, Divine Brown and Simone Denny left the crowd breathless. The "up and coming" talent displayed was nothing short of top class. It is amazing to sit back and experience the high level of creativity and skill our local artists have. They each surpassed all possible expectations. The crowd however, came to see Brandy. She delivered most of her old familiar hits such as Sitting Up In My Room and I Wanna Be Down mixed in with a few recent tracks. She was able to get the entire crowd on their feet singing along in nostalgia.
