The Muhtadi International Drumming Festival (MIDF), now in its 18th year, is a two-day annual event that celebrates the drum, it’s presence in all cultures and its cultural relevance today in communities around the world.

This year the festival took place in Woodbine Park, a part of the larger Beaches area in Toronto; a community known for its vibrancy, natural surroundings, and great outdoor sound stage.

The theme this year was Canada-Our Home On Native Land, paying homage to our First Nations as we celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.

A FREE, family-fun event was also added. Let The Children Play invited children of all ages to join the members of Muhtadi World Drummers to play various percussion instruments provided by the group, bring their own, or have fun with the group creating new instruments from everyday materials.

For two days, guests enjoyed 50+ Local and internationally known Master Drummers and Drum Groups on the Main Stage, while enjoying the other great features of the festival.

The Drum Village hosted clinics throughout the day and guests got to try many different percussion instruments.

There was also a newly added Youth Drum Zone where with Electronic drums to the festival.

Don't miss it next year! There is also a beer garden for adults and lots of great food.
