TORONTO, ON — ByBlacks.com, Canada’s largest Black-owned media platform, announces the return of ByBlacks Restaurant Week (BRW) from May 11–17, 2026. More than 30 Black-owned restaurants across five provinces will open their doors to food lovers ready to eat well and spend with intention.

This is a week worth showing up for.

The Food. The People. The Moment.

BRW 2026 kicks off May 11 at Etobicoke’s Mascot Brewery with a launch party bringing together over 10 Black-owned food vendors, live music, and 200+ guests. From there, the celebration spreads coast to coast, with participating restaurants in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island offering exclusive prix fixe menus, $10 specials, and fusion dishes you won’t find anywhere else.

When you book a table, you’re part of something larger than the meal.

Why This Week Matters

“ByBlacks Restaurant Week isn’t just about great food, it’s about economic empowerment,” says Roger Dundas, Co-Founder of ByBlacks.com. “With over 30 restaurants participating, we’re creating a movement that uplifts Black entrepreneurs and challenges Canadians to support them beyond a single week.”

Roger Dundas By Roger Dundas

Roger Dundas is the publisher and co-founder of ByBlacks.com, Canada's number one online magazine for Black Canadians. A Toronto-based entrepreneur with a background in marketing, PR, and accounting, Roger had a clear vision: build a platform that finally centred Black Canadian stories the way they deserved to be told.

He launched ByBlacks.com in February 2013 alongside his wife and editor-in-chief, Camille Dundas.

Roger's instinct has always been to show up where the community needs support. When the pandemic hit and restaurants across the country were struggling, he launched ByBlacks Restaurant Week in 2021 to spotlight Black-owned food businesses and bring them new customers. He also partnered with One Vision, One Voice in 2019 to develop culturally relevant resources for Black families navigating the child welfare system.

His work has earned recognition at the highest levels. ByBlacks.com has received multiple national ethnic media awards, including the 2017 Innovation Award from the Canadian Ethnic Media Association and a special commendation from former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In 2016, Roger was honoured with the Black Business and Professional Association's Men of Honour award and was named one of SHIFTER's Top 20 Outstanding Black Men in Canada.
