As veterans and their families continue to be in greater need of support to transition back into civilian life, the Black Veterans Affairs Committee is proud to announce the launch of the Black Veterans Network Summit & Gala For Veterans Entering Transition.

The event, titled “Meet the Leaders”, will take place at the Toronto Plaza Hotel on Friday, November 10th. The Network Summit will run from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm with the Gala to follow at the same venue from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

The Black Veterans Network Summit & Gala will assemble some of the brightest minds in business and community, including entrepreneurs, government officials, doctors, lawyers and other business leaders. Speakers will share some of the unique stories of this nation’s veterans and explore the best avenues to assist those veterans with transitioning from military to civilian life.

From coping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) to overcoming employment hurdles, the Summit will address the real-world challenges that veterans have encountered in transition and how to address those challenges and find solutions to ease the transition process. Other topics of discussion will include peer-mentoring, education, career management, legal & financial guidance, benefits, employment, spiritual guidance and health and wellness.

This Summit & Gala are a part of the Black Veterans Affairs Committee ongoing mission to ensure exiting military, veterans, and their family members are provided with resources and education in health, the labour market, and entrepreneurship to help them achieve financial stability with a sense of purpose. All of the services provided are at either no cost or reduced cost to the service members and their families.

This mission is accomplished through a network of community and business partnerships dedicated to creating a unique pathway for the successful transitioning of veterans. Black Veteran Affairs aligns themselves with allies who can fill in the gaps while keeping everything under one umbrella allowing them to become a one-stop resource for Black veterans and families. Through advocacy, outreach, training, and solutions consulting, the organization seeks to have an immediate and direct impact on the improvement of the healthcare and personal welfare of veteran heroes.

The Black Veterans Affairs Committee welcomes community contributions to the transition and well-being of Canada’s Black Veterans. Corporations, businesses, and organizations are invited to show their support through sponsorship. Individuals can become pledge donors for $75 which also includes a ticket to the Gala. Vendor and partner opportunities are also available. Those interested in any of these methods of support or attending the Summit & Gala should contact Black Veteran Affairs representative Kerry A.
