Babe, I Hate to Go is a short film about a 51-year-old Jamaican migrant worker who leaves home each year for periods of six months or more to work on an Ontario tobacco farm.

The 5th annual Toronto Black Film Festival (TBFF), one of Canada’s premiere festivals for black film opens February 15 - 19.

C'est Moi, a short Black Canadian film directed by emerging Toronto filmmaker Howard J. Davis and starring Montréal native Jenny Brizard as Marie-Josèphe Angélique has just announced its initial screenings.

Before I let any feelings of the film I Am Not Your Negro be known, I have to get past the fact that I recently met a bright young Black man in the United States who had never heard of the film’s subject: James Baldwin. 

Canadian Actor Brendan Jeffers, best known for his role as Vince on the longstanding series Degrassi: The Next Generation puts his writing talent on display in the short film “Gnawed of Approval”.

A sexy, gutsy action-packed thriller, with sex, drugs and intrigue just may take Canadian television drama to the next level aka the Netflix level.

Despite lukewarm reviews from the press, it looks like the Caribbean diaspora is still hungry for more Machel.

TIFF is drawing to a close and is leaving us all with an idea of which films will be early Oscar favourites.
