    Wednesday's two-hour season finale of Empire was watched by everyone who has cable, and the rest are hunting the Internet and breaking all kinds of laws to catch up.

    Christene A. Browne is the director of Another Planet, the first dramatic feature film to be directed by a Black woman in Canada. 

    Jemeni (born Joanne Gairy) is likely best known as the other half of Mark & Jem In The Morning, a punchy morning radio show on G987FM. But Jem is also a spirited spoken-word artist, actress, and activist.

    Angela Walcott’s perfect bedtime story will inspire and uplift the lives of African Canadian children who need the confidence to be whatever they want to be. 

    Waleed Abdulhamid is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, vocalist, producer and film-maker. He was born in Sudan and began performing at the age of 6. Abdulhamid who teaches at Humber College has toured Egypt, Syria, Kuwait and Emirate, and is known for incorporating traditional rhythms into popular music from Sudan.

    For Canadian author Lawrence Hill, the journey from page to screen was an emotional rollercoaster ride beginning with the very title, The Book of Negroes. 

    Acting came in a rather unusual way for Jamaican-Canadian actor Lyriq Bent. It wasn’t a matter of following his dreams but of dreams following him.

    No other time of year do we have so many Black Canadian focused cultural events happening across Canada than in Black History Month. February is jam-packed with events, more than you could possibly attend.

    Shakespeares’ Niggas, Beatdown, Born Ready, Pusha-Man...sound familiar? These are some of the plays written by Trinidadian born Joseph Jomo Pierre. His plays have been produced by Obsidian Theatre company, and now Jomo has co-written a piece based on Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, aptly titled Twisted.
