For Business categories, a business or professional should have been in operation for the 12 months of 2019.

For Arts & Entertainment Categories, the artist must have produced work or performed in 2019.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO NOMINATE?

Nominations for each category are open from November 15 to 30 2019. 

HOW ARE FINALISTS SELECTED?

The top 5 people and businesses (in each category) with the highest number of nominations will be selected as finalists. These awards are 100% decided on by YOU!

The only category voted on by the ByBlacks editorial team is the Breakout Business of The Year Award.

THE 5 ENTRIES WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS MAKE IT AS FINALISTS, SO CAN I NOMINATE SOMEONE MULTIPLE TIMES?

You may nominate someone for multiple different categories, but you can only nominate them once in each category. Boost your nomination numbers by asking all your family, friends, fans and supporters to nominate you!

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?

Bragging rights mostly! Winners will get the honour of being known as the best in Black Canada in their respective categories. You'll get a real award too! One you can hang on the wall. You'll receive the award at our invite-only ByBlacks anniversary party in February 2020, where you will be treated to the winner's circle photoshoot and a party with the ByBlacks crew.
