Fast forward to 2013. In today’s digital world, to stand out from the crowd, you need custom banners for your key Social Media accounts (assuming you, of course, have them already).
Here is the list with the sizes currently required for the main banners we use and recommend to clients.
- Facebook Fan page - You never know if Facebook is going to change their size again this week; but for now, the current size of the Fan Page banner is 852w x 315h pixels. Similar to your Timeline profile, this space provides great real estate to promote your brand.
- Google + Page - The new Google + page allows for a nice long image at 940w x 180h pixels, for providing info about your business, or highlighting a specific promotion.
- Twitter header - The recommended dimensions of the Twitter header is 1252w x 626h pixels. This banner is visible once a follower (not quite like the ones on the TV show) clicks on your profile. We left ours blank, but could use that space for specific promotions. Best to use an image without text as your account bio text overlays the header image.
- Twitter background - the optimal size of the image is 1600w x 900h pixels. You will see on our Twitter Account, where information is displayed to the left of the main space, providing contact details, and a summary description of the business.
Interestingly, none of the banner sizes are the same across Social Media platforms, hence the need for your Graphic Designer to create separate banners for each site now!
The benefit of consistent branding across platforms will definitely enhance your professional image online.
